Chincoteague Sunrise Day 1

Nothing beats a sunrise or sunset on the beach.  In this case, it’s sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean, while the light is warm and the waves are crashing.  I may have gone a bit overboard with the number of images in this gallery, but it’s too difficult to choose, to narrow it down any further.

The waves were especially good this visit, with some nice curls and spray blowing off the tops.  Nice, at least, for this region, although likely still to small to really excite any true surfer.  But they photographed well!

The instinct for landscapes like this is always to go wide, and I did start with the 12-35mm, leaning on the wider end.  However, my photographic vision tends to see better in telephoto lengths, so I switched about 2/3 through, using the 100-400mm I’d brought for birding, instead, for a tighter and more compressed view.
