
Any patch of open land in proximity to water is fair game for the song sparrow throughout the summer. Although they lack the vibrant colors of the warblers, these little birds are relatively common, often bold, and they put their entire selves into their song, belting with a voice that seems entirely too big for such a small bundle of feathers.
They are so ubiquitous here that, much like American robins, I rarely raise the camera to capture them anymore, except in instances like this, where the combination of pose, lighting, and access was just too good to pass up.
