
A bit out of the ordinary, since most of my macro photography focuses on living subjects – insects and flowers and anything else that’s both small, and willing to let me get within focusing range. But I suppose I’m something of a photographic scavenger, willing to work with whatever I’m able to find. In this case, my walk along the edge of the field led me to the remains of this butterfly, shrouded in dew drops where it lay caught in plant stems. I can’t say what caused its demise, but I did pause to capture a photo.
