Goldenrod Crab Spider

A walk around the backyard  gardens on a dew-filled morning revealed an unexpected surprise on one of the allium blossoms – a Goldenrod Crab spider.  More commonly expected on, as the name suggests, goldenrod, I have also frequently found them on Queen Anne’s Lace blossoms.  But this is the first one I found right in the garden, although it had been on my list of subjects to work with for two seasons.

A benefit of the cold morning, this individual was mostly stationary, which gave me the opportunity to work with it for several minutes, and capture some images I’m very pleased with.
