Jumping Spider

Being unsure of the species didn’t stop me from admiring this little fellow when I found him living on the trellis that’s home to my wisteria plant.  For several weeks I found him on the top arch, taking shelter under the vines and leaves as he hunted.  His growth over that span left no doubt that he was successful, and last time I saw him, he was almost twice as large as during our first encounter!

This photo was taken in the middle of that time frame; despite their generally approachable nature, he never seemed to fully become accustomed to having a camera lens looming over him…not that I can blame him.
