In my experience, sparrows are an overlooked family from a photography and birding standpoint. I don’t want to go so far as to say that familiarity breeds contempt, but I think it’s fair to say that familiarity breeds indifference.
Sparrows can be found year-round in the mid-Atlantic and northeast, they lack the flashy colors of the warblers, and house sparrows in particular have a poor reputation as an invasive species that dominates urban birdhouses and empties backyard feeders, to the detriment of native species.
