
Yellow warblers are one of my perennial summer favorites, cheerful, flitting balls of golden fluff who seem to be always in motion, one moment brace and the next skittish.
While this photo isn’t as dramatic as others I’ve captured of them in the past, I liked it for its simplicity, the little bird paused in that small, focused path of sunlight. There’s a great sense of scale, in amid the pine needles, that I sometimes find lacking in bird photography.
It’s below freezing outside right now, with a dusting of January snow, which makes it all the nicer to look back on a warmer, more vibrant season!
