Back from a Break

Creative output in any form can be joyful – should be joyful – but it still exacts a toll in terms of time and energy.  Unfortunately, these past few weeks found me spread across other projects such that there just wasn’t enough time and energy left to go around, so I hit pause on the blog.  But now I’m back, and although the posting schedule may change in the coming weeks, my intent is to get back to sharing photos, thoughts, and idle rambling!

The photo above is a from a late March outing, and was the only photo I came home with the day.  Based on his size and behavior, I think this crow was a juvenile; he was far more interested in getting a drink from a melted puddle at the edge of the lake ice than in anything I was doing.

Crows are very intelligent, and are usually very wary of humans.  Despite my best efforts, my prior crow photos were usually dark blobs in distant trees, as I was thwarted in any attempt at moving closer.  In this case, however, I was finally able to close to lens reach and grab a few frames before the crow decided that he didn’t trust me.
